A note from Andy

How long has yours been going?

Every so often, someone walks into the showroom and says the same thing:

“We’ve had our gas/oil cooker for about 30 years now… it’s been brilliant, but I think it might be time.”

And usually, they’re right.

These cookers are workhorses, keeping the radiators warm, the hot water running, and the kitchen cosy day after day, year after year.

But after 25-35 years, a few things start to creep in…

• They cost more to run as efficiency drops
• Spare parts become tricky (sometimes impossible) to track down
• Reliability gets a bit… well, unreliable (and always at the worst moment – usually a freezing January evening!)

That’s why I always suggest the obvious:

Act now to avoid suffering later.

There’s nothing worse than being put out without heating during the winter and being forced to take whatever you can get rather than what you really want.

So, while you’ve got the luxury of time, two names still lead the way if you’re looking for a cooker that can handle all your heating and your cooking:

1: Heritage
These are oil-fired central-heating cookers. They combine gentle range cooker cooking with proper modern heating tech. There are separate controls for flexibility, efficient burners, and parts that are easy to source.

2: Rayburn
This is the name many of us grew up with. Their modern gas and oil models keep the traditional look but give you updated heating performance, running your kitchen and your radiators all from one appliance.

Lead times for these are usually 8–10 weeks. Which means if you start exploring now, you could be set up comfortably before winter really bites.

If you’re in that “our cooker’s 25+ years old” bracket, it doesn’t necessarily mean panic stations. But it’s a good time to plan ahead.

I have both Rayburn and Heritage on display side by side in the showroom, so you can compare them properly.

Just let me know if you’d like to swing by to take a look.
