A few years ago, I was lucky enough to visit the Lacanche factory in Burgundy.
Now, I’ve been to a few cooker factories over the years, but this one stuck with me.
(And not just because the French know how to do lunch properly — we’re talking four courses, each with its own wine pairing!)
No, what really stayed with me was the precision and care that went into every detail…
You start at one end with nothing but raw steel, and by the time you reach the other, you’ve watched a cooker take shape piece by piece – cut, welded, enamelled, and hand-assembled.
There’s nothing mass-produced about it.
Just thoughtful, proper craftsmanship.
The other day, Lacanche sent me some new photos from inside their factory. And all those memories came flooding back: the hum of the workshop, the smell of warm metal, and the feeling that every person in there genuinely cared about what they’re making.
It reminded me why I love these cookers…
Because they’re built to last, with an attention to detail that you can feel the moment you open the door or run your hand across the enamel.
Here’s a few of the photos they sent.
If you’d like to see any more, just let me know – I’d be happy to send them over.
And of course, if you want to see the real thing, you’re always welcome in the showroom.
Warm regards,
Andy
