I had one customer in today who was dreading them...

My day at the Game Fair last month was one for the books.

Picture this: the magnificent Blenheim Palace, glorious sunshine, and the temperature soaring to a toasty 28 degrees. Now, what would you expect at an event like this?

When you think of range cookers, it's easy to imagine hearty winter stews and slow-cooked Sunday roasts, just what you want in the peak of summer, right?

I don't think so.

A customer was telling me about her fond childhood memories of spending time in their kitchen around a wood-fired stove.

There's one for practically everything these days, and cookers & kitchens are no exception!

About 15 years ago, I held a cookery demonstration in the showroom that went slightly wrong...

All things were going swimmingly until a customer asked a question about our wood-fired cookers. Since we'd about finished showing everyone the electric cookers, we figured we had time to add a wood-fired cooker into the mix.

I'd say that around half of the people who come into the showroom aren't just looking for a new cooker; they're after an entirely new kitchen.

And so the question inevitably pops up: "Do you do the whole kitchen or just cookers?"

There's something that's been heating up discussions with customers lately: the shift from gas to induction hobs.

It seems to me like every day, more people are curious about making the switch to induction.

As the "Everhot" name suggests, an Everhot cooker is designed to be left running, constantly filling your home with a gentle warmth.

However, let me tell you from personal experience that trying to clean an Everhot cooker while it's on is a little tricky!

It's not often a person visits the showroom alone. Usually, it's couples. But it does happen from time to time...

And I find that when it does, it's because the other half isn't fussed with whatever cooker they end up with.

I pop into my local butcher's quite regularly. It's at the end of the same street our showroom is on. So, I've got to know the butcher, Keith, quite well.

But what I didn't expect was to see Keith walk through the door of the showroom one day...

Sometimes I get people who ask if I'm able to pull a few strings for them so they can get their cookers a little earlier.

And I get it - when you buy something new, you want to use it right away. But that's not always possible. Especially if it's a custom-built cooker.

However, there was a lovely lady who visited just before Christmas...

Not a day goes by when I don't mention this... it's probably my most-watched video ever.(Over the years, I think I've probably contributed to about 90% of its 28,000 views!)

Have you ever had a stranger come up to you and know exactly who you are - an old school friend or ex-colleague, someone like that?

They know you by name, yet you're left scratching your head without a clue to who they are!

You either play along and pretend you know them or awkwardly reveal you've completely forgotten.

I've heard of people having his-and-hers sinks in the bathroom. I've heard of his-and-hers home offices. I've heard of his-and-hers wardrobes...

But having a his-and-hers cooker was a new one for me!

However, that's exactly what this couple wanted...

There's a certain aspect of the Everhot cookers that always shocks people.

They quite literally cannot believe it.

An Oxford Professor was one of the latest to be amazed when I told him...

The other day, a designer visited the showroom searching for the perfect Lacanche cooker for her client.

We immersed ourselves in the specifications and thoroughly explored all the customization possibilities. Then, when it came time to choose a colour, let's just say things got interesting...

A customer came into the showroom and told me straight:
"I've got a million questions for you".

So I thought, challenge accepted!

Honestly, I'd be the same if I were investing in something that'd be a centrepiece in my home for the next 20+ years.

I've been watching the dog show Crufts this year (the winner was a gorgeous Australian Shepherd called Viking), and it reminded me of a recent customer...

They visited the showroom and brought along two friendly Jack Russell Terriers.

After they'd settled on an Everhot cooker, they said:

"The dogs are going to love it".

I was flicking through the calendar the other day and almost fell out of my chair...

It's been 20 years since I opened the showroom in Princes Risborough.

That's flown by!

This cooker has a unique backstory that I love telling...

More than 40 years ago, a watermill owner had a problem:

He needed a cooker that could run on a small, steady stream of electricity that matched the supply generated by his watermill.

The order came in just before last Christmas. It was for an Everhot Stove to be delivered to a place I'd never heard of - Mousehole.
