A note from Andy
Did you grow up with one, too?
This is perhaps overdue, but, for the first time in this newsletter, I’d like to give a special mention to someone very dear to me…
My mum.
She’s 83 and, to this day, is still using the same range cooker we had when I was around 11 or 12 years old.
I always say autumn is the season where a range cooker really proves its worth. For me, it’s this time of the year that always brings back some of those fond memories from when I was a kid…
On chilly mornings, we’d all gather around the cooker for warmth before heading out, and on Sundays, the smell of a roast would drift through the house. The kettle seemed to be forever on the boil, and there was always bread or crumbles baking in the oven.
My mum’s cooker has been part of the family for decades now (still going strong!). And I can guarantee something will be simmering away if I were to pop round.
I think that’s what makes these cookers so special…

They’re not just about function or looks. They become part of the family. You soon stop noticing them as appliances and they become the anchor of the home…
Everyone starts to gravitate towards the kitchen, meals take on that slow-cooked comfort, and it’s the reason you linger a little longer at the dinner table.
So whenever someone asks me why I still get excited talking about these cookers after all these years, that’s my answer:
Because I’ve experienced what they bring to a home.
And the funny thing is, when I talk to customers in the showroom, I hear versions of the same story over and over. Different kitchens, different families, but the same thread: a cooker at the heart of it all.
